UX Designer
Symplectic has been growing fast, and we're looking for a bright, motivated UX Designer to join the team.
About the Role
Working alongside our web UI team, back-end developers and business analysts, you’ll be helping us to update and extend our product by designing pages that look great, are easy to use, and are intuitive to our academic user-base.
About you
You’re a keen, analytical problem-solver, eager to share your ideas with others. You’re motivated to design and implement an efficient and pleasing user experience, and respond well to the responsibility of being directly answerable to clients. You also appreciate the importance of clean, maintainable code. You show care to spot problems before they appear, and have the initiative and enthusiasm to push for a solution.
What will your day-to-day work entail
You’ll be part of a group of people with diverse skill-sets who thrive on teamwork. Our team structure is fluid so you’ll be collaborating with BA’s and developers, understanding the reasons behind the problems we solve and presenting new ways to approach them. You’ll be designing efficient and intuitive workflows, finding elegant UX solutions to complicated data presentation problems, and engaging with the clients to validate your ideas. We’ll want you to take ownership of the UX as we expand Elements to support the challenges faced by our growing global client base.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
We’re looking for commercial experience in all or most of the following: * Creating wireframes and rapid prototypes of interfaces to be used as blueprints for technical development; * Implementing beautiful, accessible, user-friendly page designs in cross-browser-compatible HTML and CSS; * Designing and implementing functionality using JavaScript and jQuery; * Participating in technical projects with a focus on quality and improving the user experience; * Facilitating individual and group based user research studies; * Helping to develop strategies to incorporate user research best practices into future product development
In addition to that…
- You’ll engage with and care about what matters to our users; and
- You enjoy the rapidly changing environment provided by a small company.
